Delete Your Capture & Cook Account
This page explains how to delete your account in the Capture & Cook app, published by Capture & Cook LLC, and exactly what data is deleted and kept.
Delete it yourself, in the app
Deletion is immediate and permanent. You do not need to contact us.
- Open Capture & Cook and sign in to the account you want to delete.
- Tap your profile avatar in the top-right corner of the screen.
- In the menu that opens, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account, shown in red.
- Confirm when asked. Your account is deleted right away and you are signed out.
Delete some of your data, and keep your account
You do not have to delete your whole account to remove things. Each of these is permanent and takes effect immediately.

| Your saved address | Menu → Saved address, clear the field, then save |
| Allergy and dietary preferences | Menu → Edit profile, untick them, then save |
| Your profile photo | Menu → Edit profile, then tap Remove under the avatar |
If you would rather we did it, email support@captureandcook.com from the address on your account and tell us what to remove. We action these within 30 days.
If you cannot open the app
Email support@captureandcook.com from the address on the account, with the subject Delete my account. We verify the request and delete the account within 30 days.
What is deleted
All of the following are erased permanently and cannot be recovered:

| Community activity | Reactions, views, follows and followers, blocked-user list, and recipes you sent or received |
| Devices | Push notification tokens, so notifications stop reaching your phone |
| Photos | Dish photos stored on your profile and in your history |
What is kept, and for how long
- Posts, comments, and replies you made in the community. These stay so that conversations other people took part in are not broken. Your name is removed from them and replaced with [deleted user], and they can no longer be traced back to you. If you want a specific post removed, delete it in the app before you delete your account.
- Content moderation records. If a post of yours was reported, the report is retained for up to 12 months so that repeat abuse can be acted on. It holds no personal information about you.
- Records we are required to keep. Where the law requires it, or where a record is needed to resolve a dispute or investigate fraud or abuse, we may retain limited information for as long as that obligation lasts, and no longer.
Everything else is removed from our live systems immediately. Encrypted backups are cycled out within 30 days.
Deleting the app is not the same thing
Uninstalling Capture & Cook removes it from your phone but leaves your account on our servers. Use the steps above to delete the account itself.
